WonderCraft

I drew this for SamCube of WonderCraft.net and he put it up in the fan gallery. Thought I'd share as I'm a big fan of Minecraft and Wondercraft.

Also Notch VS Yogscast? Interesting..

How to revert back to minecraft 1.8.1

People that play on servers may regret updating just yet. Servers that run mods often can't update as quickly as clients (your computer); and as a result players may find themselves unable to log on to a particular server.

The problem is simple enough to fix. Just got to: C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin and rename the minecraft.jar to minecraft.jar.bakup

Then place the 1.8.1 mineraft.jar file in the bin folder

If you don't have the 1.8.1 minecraft you can download it here: 1.8.1 minecraft (warning: not my link or file so use at your own risk; I make nor imply any responsibility for the file). Click "skip add" at the top and the download should start.

Extract the minecraft.jar with winrar or 7zip and put it in the bin folder.

If you can't find the AppData folder you'll need to go to: Control Panel/Folder Options/View/ and check show hidden files, folders and drives

Now you should be able to play 1.8.1 again!

Castlegaurd

I've started on a new area of the map outside of Apvia in the 1.8 region. The new world generations are just spectacular. I have run into an issue with the water, however, since it seems to be one block lower than the old 1.7 water, so anywhere in the world where 1.7 water meets 1.8 there is a ridge of water. It looks like a tsunami ready to wash ashore.

The gates of Castlegaurd (Apvia is about 1km away over the water)

Large storage room under the gate.

Some distance from the gates this keep sits on the side of a ginormous chasm.

Large storage room.

A random town generated by the game - sadly no citizens though.

A sailing ship unloading a fresh catch of fish.

How To Speed Up Minecraft hack

I'll call this a hack because I'm going to use one program to change another in a way not intended by the author.

I've read guides on how to increase the memory usage of minecraft and they were complicated as hell, so here is my simple solution: Use MC Patcher to increase the ram minecraft uses. This works even if you don't or can't use HD textures.

This only works if you have enough ram.

1) As always: backup your minecraft.jar you'll find it in C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\ The easiest way is to just copy and paste a new one. Windows will rename it minecraft - copy.jar automatically. If you need to change back just delete your minecraft.jar and remove the " - copy" from your backup.

2) Download MC patcher

3) Run it.

4) Click the "options" tab

5) In the "Java heap size (MB)" enter the amount of ram you want minecraft to use. 1 gig = 1024 MB, here I entered 2048 which is 2 gigs

6) Click the Mods tab and click patch.

Done!

If your computer is up to it you can now run HD textures but even if it isn't you've just increased the amount of ram minecraft will use which will speed it up - a lot!

Stop Enderman From Picking Up Blocks Mod

I figure most of you have put a lot of time into your worlds. I know I have. So that's why I don't understand the enderman mob. It seems his sole purpose is to pick apart all our hard work! I don't know about you but I don't want to turn minecraft into repaircraft.

So I found a mod that stops the enderman from picking up blocks. Get it here: Enderman Mod.

To install: you'll need 7zip (free) or WinZip (not free) to open your minecraft.jar file.

Go to C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar

Right click the minecraft.jar file and open with 7zip.

Once open drag the gz.class file into the minecraft.jar archive.

Delete the META.INF folder

Close 7zip.

Done! No more repaircraft and back to building.

I didn't write this mod so my thanks goes out to the original author. You can find his post and more info here. There is also a 1.9 mod and a mod that changes the enderman sounds.

Minecraft Adventure Map

It's finished!!!!!... My new minecraft adventure map! This thing is just huge and I've put lots and lots,... and lots of work into it.

The map can be found in the downloads section or you can get it here: Minecraft map save.

You start the adventure by going through the main doors where you'll have to defeat monsters and solve some puzzles to continue. The building is jam packed with traps, monsters, twists and turns.

This map is meant for people who like to play hard (that means with monsters on).

Main entrance.

I built this map to be really super tough.

I challenge people to enter it without any gear; I did design it so someone really good at minecraft should be able to get through empty handed (you'll find plenty of gear hidden inside).

If you die you'll re-spawn about halfway through the map. You'll miss a lot that way. So dying really super sucks.

I built the levels and challenges in such a way that there are always two ways to defeat them and two ways around everything (except the end challenge).

If you want to play the map again or start over you'll need to delete the saved game and write it again into your save folder. The reason is that many of the traps don't reset or are so destructive that they tear up parts of the map! Unless you cheat, you won't even be able to enter the map again, so you'll need to rewrite the saved game to start over.

Oh yeah,.. and I built a new art gallery and fancy waterside restaurant:

Art Gallery

Restaurant
So I hope you enjoy all my hard work and please let me know what you think if you try it, but please remember, I said it was reeeeeeely tough ;)

I'm going to try and make a video of it soon.

I started this some time ago so it is entirely made in the 1.7.3 build. It should work just fine in 1.8 or 1.9 pre release.

Minecraft 1.8 Adventure Update Review

I downloaded the minecraft pre release of the 1.8 update. If you have a valid copy of minecraft you can also get it here: pre-release of the 1.8 update To install just replace your minecraft.jar file with this one. I recommend renaming your old minecraft.jar so if you want to revert you'll be able to just change the name back.

It is going to be a huge update and I have to say that so far I really love it. It has made minecraft better by a whole other minecraft (if that makes any sense).

First things first though. Non of my mods worked with it. Even the HD textures were a fail, however, that's to be expected and they'll no doubt be updated straight away once the release is official.

The scenery and bioms are absolutely epic. I'm pretty sure the clouds have been raised too.

I started out far from shore on a tiny clump of dirt but spotted this island in the distance.
I had to swim to the island.
I hacked some trees down for wood.
The animal mobs seem to really like spawning in the water or up on mountain cliffs. I was forever seeing cows stuck on ledges mournfully mooing away. They don't seem to jump off anymore but just sit there too far away to even be hunted.

I quickly had a shelter. Here I'm eating a pork chop (right click and hold to eat)
One thing I appreciate is that resources seem to be a whole lot more plentiful. I had a shelter, work bench, oven, coal, bed and stone tools within the first day!

There are now two kinds of meat: beef and pork - and they finally stack! It's a good thing too because now you have a hunger bar that goes down as you work on stuff:

The drumsticks(?) beside the hearts indicates hunger. As they go down you are more hungry. The green bar is experience which you gain from fighting and hunting.

You'll notice on the far left of the inventory a weird globe thingy, well, I have no idea what it is but I picked it up after watching an Endermen burning in the morning sun. Endermen are a new mob in the 1.8 update that attack only if you look at them. I only saw one at a distance.

I decided to start digging down from where I had made a shelter. About 40 meters later I ran into this!
The tunnel seems to go on for quite a distance and is full of mobs! Up ahead is an intersection with spiders and zombies!
I managed to kill a spider that attacked me but His/Her bite poisoned me. The spiders seem smaller since it didn't have any trouble getting through the 1 meter doorway.
So the spiders are now poisonous and their venom causes temporary damage. You'll heal soon enough but spiders are waaaaay more dangerous now. I like mobs and fighting so for me that's excellent news! I wanted to push on in the tunnel, however, since I had just started the game I wasn't anywhere strong enough yet. I think I need better weapons and armour.

I went for a boat trip and found a giant swamp with vines growing from the trees.

Older worlds will be compatible with 1.8 but the new terrain will only appear in unexplored parts of the world.

Anyway, this is a seriously epic update but don't just take my word for it; download it and give it a try yourself. Notch wanted to add adventure to the game and he totally succeeded. I'm having as much fun as the first day I played it.

I do have one major concern though: Notch has included a builder mode (free play) where players can fly and build stuff too easily IMO. I love cheats and mods, don't get me wrong, but this makes it too easy and newbies will be tempted to start using methods that should be left alone until the game starts getting boring. I think the popularity of single player commands led Notch to include them in this version - which is a really big mistake and will reduce a lot of peoples enjoyment IMO. But what do I know? He's the millionaire game designer not me, so I'm sure it's all good, whatever I may think.

How To Install The Zeppelin Mod

The reason I chose the zeppelin mod is because it allows people to make their own flying vehicles.

The mod searches for connected blocks and tries to guess what is the vehicle and what is the world. It is limited to 1024 blocks and they cannot be connected diagonally.

I had some troubles installing this mod; not because it's hard to do but because there are some bad instructions out there (I specifically mean this site). I mean seriously: that really messed me up! So here is my version:

Warning: This mod is more than a little rough around the edges. Expect it to screw up. I've been flying and had my ship vanish! Another time the ship dumped me and kept going! It's also vanished only to be found in its original position but now unmovable and with an invincible controller block. I don't know why it behaves this way.

I follow two basic rules that seem to help the mod run better:

1 - Don't try and go faster than your computer can render or the ship will vanish (or worse).

2 - Don't leave a block active and save a game. Sometimes it's OK but sometimes not. So to be safe deactivate ships before leaving the game.

Remember: You should always back up your files before you install a mod (I really mean it, I'm not just covering my you know what). I recommend making a copy of your entire minecraft folder with saved games and all; just to be safe.

=================//==================

This mod requires the Modloader mod. If you don't have it you'll need to install it. If you have it installed already then you can skip this part.

Installation How To: ModLoader

You'll need to download and install ModLoader Beta 1.7.3  (More info)

Once you have the ModLoader.zip file just open it with 7zip (don't extract);

Then open C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\minecraft.jar with 7zip (don't extract);

Drag the contents of ModLoader to minecraft.jar

While minecraft.jar is still open delete the META-INF folder (if it's there).

That's it! ModLoader should be installed!

=================//==================

To Install The Zeppelin Mod:

Download the latest version: mod_Zeppelin-client-1.7.3.0.11.zip  Visit the official site

Drag and drop the downloaded zip file into C:\Users\[your User Name]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods

There, done! That's it, really.

=================//==================

My last video: Flying Airships In Minecraft, used the Zeppelin 1.7.3.0.10 mod, so you'll notice differences.

So, I hope this helps someone.
