Circle Punch Flower Birthday Card

It was a folding frenzy to make this flower card using 9 x 2 inch circles(1 as a base, 8 for the flower). I had a ball making the petals and I think the pearl brad adds that touch of class. It took quite a while to line up the piercing to create that faux stitching look. It’s the very first card that I have ever taken money for and I sold it for $4 to my wonderful  neighbor, a monumental moment!!

hAnglar stAnglar Christmas Card with Snow

My perfect holiday involves snow and I really enjoyed making this card with snow. My daughter recently commented on my stamp collection and said  “if I really want to enjoy my colouring in, I‘ve got to get some images I really want to colour in”, so I have recently added some new stuff to my collection that visually appeals to me and I got myself some Copics so I can really enjoy myself. The Copics are really my Christmas present early so I will have to wrap them up and put them under the tree on Christmas Eve. I added a railing behind as her background to set the scene and coloured with Copics and added a thick layer of snow(Ice Stickles) because that’s just how it sits on the fence, when it really snows. I love this embossing folder because it looks like swirling snow , yet still pretty and feminine like the soft subtle curves of fresh flowers, and I slightly distressed the edges to add some interest like the way the snow plough clears a slightly uneven path. I used my new Martha Stewart Snowflake Border Punch which was a wonderful find at the recent craft fair. I added the white stars and snowflakes to finish off the card, and to add a (Ice Stickles Glitter Glue)shimmer of blue and coldness to the card to help set the scene. I love these pastel non traditional colours I used in this card with some inspiration from the Shabby Tearoom.

On a personal note my Golden Retriever ‘Honey’ had a dog version of a stroke on Sunday afternoon and poor Honey is at the Veterinary Specialist Centre with hope for rehabilitation, only time will tell. Here is the technical stuff off the internet. In Honey’s case it’s one rear leg. I’m spending as much time as I can at the hospital with her as possible, and went twice yesterday. It’s such a shock to see her so unwell, she is only 7.5yrs old and the words spinal injury are never words you want to hear. She was just playing on the grass when it happened casually sniffing around and then yelped about 20 times, just like that… fine one minute and her life changed the next.

Fibrocartilaginous Embolism. In this condition, a small amount of disc material ruptures and gets into one of the blood vessels leading to the spinal cord. As the vessel narrows, the disc material obstructs it, depriving a certain segment of the spinal cord of its blood supply. Without proper blood supply, that segment of the spinal cord dies, resulting in paralysis. Surgery will not help these dogs because there is no pressure on the spinal cord. Often, paralysis involves only one rear leg, or one rear leg is more severely affected than the other. Complete recovery may occur in a few days to weeks, or there may be permanent damage to a portion of the spinal cord. Diagnosis of fibrocartilaginous embolism is based on the correct clinical signs and a normal myelogram. Definitive diagnosis can only be made after death by performing a spinal cord biopsy.

Keeping positive is essential!

hAnglar stAnglar Christmas Card

In an effort to be prepared for Xmas I made this Christmas card for one of my son’s teachers. I wanted to use non traditional colours and decided on pink and green. I’m in the process of mastering the fine art of colouring using Copics and it’s harder than it looks, I thought I was an expert when I was 8yrs old at colouring ! This is the first time I’ve used this image and it’s kind of weird for us Australian card makers to make wintery Christmas Cards as it’s the hottest time of the year for us ,so the thought of be rugged up makes me hot.. so I popped a butterfly,a park bench and some greenery behind my hAnglar  stAnglar Christmas girl and sat her in her own field of pretty pink  flowers. I’d love to have a white Christmas once in this lifetime and for the meantime I have white flower brads instead of snowflakes to embellish my card and it’s hard to see by this photo I added sparkly glitter on the flowers and the fluffy white sections of her coat and hat and it was just the extra touch this card needed!Cards November 2011 002

Here’s the part that makes, making this card - a little more exciting………

Magnolia Birthday Card

As you can see I got carried away and embossed two layers on this card and then used my sponging block with some chalk ink to highlight the embossing. I adore this cute Magnolia stamp she is so versatile and had a ball colouring her with my new Copics. I saw the balloons inside the card idea on Valita’s Fresh Folds ages ago and finally tried it out and it adds a real cuteness to the Happy Birthday card!Cards November 2011 004

Golf Birthday Card

I made this Golf Birthday Card card for my girlfriends Dad. Clive is 75 today and I was inspired by my friend Vicki Fraser to make this card after she made my hubby a golf card for his birthday. I’m always happy to take bits and pieces no longer wanted in my circle of crafters and the grass and sky are all wallpapers given to me. I love the texture of the green wallpapers they really add a great effect  for the grass and the sky wallpaper… well I wish I had a whole roll of that! I used my Stampin Up Scallop Edge Border Punch to make the grass.Cards October,2011 009

Magnolia Singing Tilda

Anita's 11th Birthday October 2011 057

Anita's 11th Birthday October 2011 059

I really enjoyed making this card for my daughters birthday, she loves to sing and my girlfriend Vicki Fraser bought this Magnolia Tilda Singing stamp for me so I could make my darling daughter the perfect birthday card. I paper pieced Singing Tilda to get the dress just the right colour and shaped it to give it a slight curve using my flower tool, before gluing into position.  I chose a designer paper that my wonderful friend Frances from Stamp Owl gave me for Tilda’s dress to match the dress my daughter wears on stage that shimmers and sparkles. I used a purple gel pen and highlighted with Ice Stickles Glitter Glue to finish.I wanted to use some shading behind and used my Spellbinder Circle as a mask to get the white edge effect with my Sponging Block and Colorbox Chalk Ink. Then I used the Tim Holtz Alterations Carnivale to personalise the card and add her age using some new Glitter Cardstock. I wanted an unusual shape card  and placed Tilda looking down from the top of the card like my daughter does when she’s on stage.

Handmade Flower Card with Martha Stewart Punch by Anita Munro

Please Subscribe to my YouTube Channel Trish and Treasure

My Darling Daughter Anita who is only 10yrs old premade the Flower using all pink flowers but in different sizes, and when she liked what she had made she glued each layer together and added a butterfly bling embellishment to add a bit of her own personal flair. Anita placed a adhesive dimensional under the flower so it would pop off the card for added interest! She used a piece of pink paper and used the Martha Stewart Scroll Heart Deep Edger Border Punch down both sides to create a Lace Trim which she fixed to the card carefully with Glue. Anita added a sentiment using the Stampin Up Modern Label Punch and Stampin Up Word Window Punch and stamped using Colorbox Chalk ink her sentiment from Stampin Up Stamp Set called Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

Anita made this card for her school teacher for her Birthday and I was surprised to see that she had pre written on a notepad what she was going to write inside, which is very cute and thoughtful.

I will enter this card in the following challenges on her behalf:

With Sympathy

When I made this card I really wanted to have a cross on the front. A template would have been an excellent help but I just hand drew it and cut it out as I was keen to keep going to get the result I had imagined and visualised in my head. I love the metal brad I used with the flower it really anchored the card design. An extra layer of darker ribbon subtly popped the soft lace detail trim at the bottom edge of the card. I made my own Shabby Chic designer paper  which I distressed and have included a detail description so you can also have a go. I inked all the edges in Denim Adirondack Ink with a Stamp It Sponging Block to complete my distressed look.

Shabby Chic Designer Paper Technique

  • I chose some designer paper and clear embossed (wet) some swirls and curls, always use your anti-static bag over your paper before embossing.
  • Then brushed over some white gesso paint when almost dry, removed paint off embossed area. Then waited for all this to dry.
  • Protect your ironing board with a heat proof sheet like the Tim Holtz one. When paint is finally dry, place a sheet(or a few) of brown paper (not newspaper) over your designer paper and iron off the clear embossing until it vanishes, absorbed into a few layers of the brown paper. Best to use a sheet of baking paper as the top layer before you begin to iron as this will protect your iron base from any potential mess.
  • It leaves this amazing effect as you can see by my close up.

Penguin Party Time

I’ve been dying to try some new stuff out lately, and my purchase of this gorgeous string inspired me to try it out with some balloons. Ask my friend Vicki Fraser she will tell you how embarrassing I am at the shopping centre when it comes to balloons, I just love them! I couldn’t resist this handsome penguin gentleman who no doubt has happy feet and can trip the light fantastic. Yes, I’m ready to party. I have a thing for bright colours and know the young recipient of this card will love it as much as I do.

Cheeky Smiles For Your Birthday

June 2011 Cards 009

June 2011 Cards 011

I’d been dying to try to make a banner and incorporated that into this card using this gorgeous string. The string reminds me of my teenage year's where I perfected a few tricks with my yo-yo. I feel in love with this range of papers by Kaisercraft, so stay tuned. I’ve been cutting out the animals ready to make some more cards, using my waiting for my daughter at rehearsals time effectively.

Happy Fathers Day Card

I enjoyed making this Tiger Card as it oozes masculinity, which really suits my hubby and will be the perfect Fathers Day Card for him.

Happy Fathers Day

I added the textured card at the bottom to accentuate the mirrored effect of the water in my stamped image, and it was nice to add some natural coloured texture to try to man this card up a bit! I added a purple highlight to offset the grey colouring, for the cool colours that are under the Tiger’s neck . I started colouring this last year at my daughter’s  play rehearsal for the same theatre company as this year and finished it finally the other night, only one year later and another play later. It was a marathon to colour and took a lot longer than I thought. I don’t mind waiting for her at all and it gives me a bit more time to do my crafting, unfortunately there is only 2 more weeks of rehearsals for Jack & the Beanstalk a Pantomime ( she’s the back half of a cow, a villager, the hen that lays the golden egg, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz(singing Were off to see the the Wizard solo) & a scary monster monster. That’s a lot of costume changes for one play. This is her 4th play for the year. Her 3rd Play this year has performances next week. She is small Alice in Alice in Wonderland a Disney play,so it’s go go go around here. Hair,Make up, Action!June 2011 Vicki & I 006
