Magnolia Christmas Card

I made this for my girlfriend Tracey(my bridesmaid) and her family. I wanted to have a bit of fun with Tilda and decided if I was her I’d be swinging around too!As you can see there is lots of glitter..on the card, all over me and Honey my dog has a bit on her as well…everywhere I tell you. I challenged myself to make a Centre Step Card and I’m very pleased with the result and using not just….. non traditional colours, but my favorites!

Spesch Birthday Card using Paper Piecing

I have to say I am feeling very special as my girlfriend Vicki Fraser arrived with a card ready to make and like twins we made one each only differing with our coloring in and ribbons and buttons. We used her new Spesch Designer Stamp and she is so very cute, and cut around her so she popped off the background paper. Vicki had already sorted out two paper piecing- firstly the dress and then the balloons and pre cut them both ,how lucky am I! I used my Whispers Strokes Marker to colour her hair, eyes and dress trim and my favorite markers ever are my Copic  Markers E11 & E00 which I used for the face/skin tones.Copic markers are so on my Santa Wish List!Vicki got these lovely rounded bling as a gift with purchase from the Craft Queen, they are so classy.I used some glitter to accentuate her pretty bow in her hair. Vicki cut the grass using her border punch that had a kind of soft wavy line then going back thru the punch off center this time and not lining it up makes grass, too easy! I had a heap of fun making this card!

Spellbinder Nestabilities Peony Handmade Flower & Recycling Plastic Bag Tutorial

I received the wonderful gift of socks for a gift and kept the plastic bag with zip to recycle. I made the flower using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Peony using 3 coloured papers, for assembly see my Make a Flower Video on my Trish and Treasure YouTube Channel. I  die cut two Stampin Up Sizzix Bigz Top Note out: one in polka dot paper, and the other in white. I used the white one on the inside to hide out the sock packaging details and I used Tim Holtz Alterations Carnivale lettering die, using up scraps left over from my polka dot paper for the lettering inside for ANITA. I made this for my darling daughter! I have also made a YouTube Tutorial so you can see how easy it was to make!cardmaking vids 006

Shabby Chic Tag

One of the Mum’s at my daughter’s Dance Studio is an ex-police officer and now teaches Child Safety & Protection at Bond University on the Gold Coast, Australia. She is someone who makes a huge difference  in this world we live in and I admire her because she has devoted her life and career to protecting children and teaching others to be like herself. I was inspired to make her something and I decided a bookmark for her text books at work would be perfect!

The unusual wet embossing technique I used to make the designer paper shabby chic I will put the instructions in my next post!

Darling Daughter has had a busy few days and competed in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod.

The school choir routine of a melody of 3 songs was cute and all the kids dressed up like orphans, they didn’t win this year but just being in choir really improves my daughters quality of voice and she seems to sound crisper, not to mention has learnt so much.

Then she competed in her group dance routines. Under 10’s in 4 sections and she won 1st place in all 4 sections.I am so proud of her and all the effort she has put into her dancing this year, she has a work ethic to be envied. I am now thanks to you tube an expert hair dresser & make-up artist. I’ve also now perfected the art of applying False Eyelashes of which I am so proud of myself.

Yesterday at my daughters Year 5 Church service all the Year 5 kids did a play and sang. I looked everywhere but darling daughter wasn’t an actor or singer ….what the …..Anyway I spot her she is down at the back of the church coaching the year 5 choir on stage with all the actions and expressions for the kids on the stage.. I was great to see her Year 5 teacher use her talents in such an unusual way.

After church we headed out to watch hubby coach and my gorgeous son who is 15 play in the Under 19’s Youth Soccer game. I took 100’s photos and really enjoyed watching them both in action . I really enjoyed my weekend!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas in July!. If you know me nothing makes me happier than real snow, especially to ski on. This is the first shaker card I ever made and it’s filled with fake snow. I started out stamping having private lessons with Louise Magetti on the Gold Coast before I was ready to join a group and know what all the  other girls were talking about. We made this card with great delight and it was also the first time I’d ever used dimensionals. This is also the first stamp set I ever bought. I had no idea how much there was to know and still I’m learning new stuff all the time.

Hibiscus Birthday

I clear embossed this Stamp It hibiscus  flower stamp over patterned paper then used a Kaiser craft Hot Pink and purple  inkpad with a Stamp It sponging block to blend over card and removed any excess ink by rubbing a tissue over .I then added the glitter, butterflies and bling to finish!

Perfect Moments

Vicki Fraser and I teamed up on Sunday to try out some new techniques. I took white gloss cardstock and streaked purple and pink inks over it,then clear embossed this sentiment from Stamp It. Then I mixed up purple paint and glitter and painted in the same streaked way as the inks. When nearly dry removed excess paint from my clear embossed sentiment to reveal “Perfect Moments” then added some purple ink over to define words using my Stamp It Sponging Block. I decided my ribbon need a pin so I made my own with beads from my daughters stash and added a little glitter. Then I decided to decorate inside the card with a very pleasing result. I’m happy with these photos you can see a lot of detail.

Happy Mother’s Day

It’s Mothers Day in Australia this Sunday 8th May and I made this for my Mum (she’s in her 80’s). I fussed over this card for hours and now I’m very happy with the result. I like how this embossing folder changed the affect on the polka dot paper and I have been inspired by http://michellezindorf.stampinup.net (for those who don’t know about her she is so talented and in my circle we call her The Brayer Queen. I signed up for her email internet tutorials and this has inspired me to make more of my inks and expand on my stamping style but I don’t have a brayer yet so I used my sponging Blocks and ink to make up my background to suit the cardstock that I wanted to use… I just love getting inky fingers! Daisy’s remind my Mum of my Dad (he loved to grow daisy’s in their garden) so this was the perfect image for her especially because Mum is such a huge fan of pink (and so am I). I enjoyed decorating the inside of the card to compliment the main image and can you tell that I’m into butterfly’s at the moment and very partial to glitter.

Blue Mouse

Here is another card darling daughter and I made together…she’s famous today…… front cover of the local newspaper THE TWEED SUN a huge photo with a story on page 3 of how she is honoured to sing the Australian National Anthem on ANZAC day  25th April. We hope you like our glittering mouse!

Be Happy

It’s school holiday’s and here is another card my daughter and I made together. I love this new embossing folder I picked up at JAM Creations in South Tweed Heads for $8. We used the glitter liberally and discovered this super fine glitter is also transparent allowing the coloured area inside the pink ears to be accentuated. You will definitely be seeing more glitter experiments here. I also had the opportunity to teach my daughter paper piercing and she did a great job, very even. It’s great girly time making cards together with my daughter, especially when the boys (hubby & son) are watching soccer on TV.
Hubby and son put on a Soccer Carnival for the under 12’s at Broadbeach Soccer Club on Wednesday and daughter went in it as she was there anyway as I was office girl and ball collector for the day . She was the only girl and at the end they had a series of 6 games where you swap teams and gain individual points based on the scores anyway guess who won …yes my daughter… and she’s only ever played two games this year as she decided to do Soccer as her school sport, she obviously has been paying more attention to the rules of play and positioning than any of us thought. This was slightly awkward as your own kid shouldn’t win a carnival you put on and so we gave out 4 prizes to the other  place getter and will have to work out some thing else for little miss, maybe a pair of soccer boots instead of runners would be a good start!Aristocats & Cards 18.04.2011 012

Make and Take with Amanda

Amanda Cordingley a Kaszazz Consultant in Brisbane,Australia demonstrated this tag and these two cards as a make and take at our monthly meeting of Stamping with Friends at Varsity Lakes Community Centre on the Gold Coast.I really enjoyed making these, and it's nice to try new techniques.

On this tag we took a tag made from acetate and added some dimensional magic and a drop of pink and a drop of teal from re-inkers at opposite ends and some rock candy drizzled all over and rubbed away with one finger to mix up the colours and then put a tissue over the top to blot and leave in position to dry. Then we removed excess tissue as only one layer of my tissue stuck down and then trimmed the edge with scissors and adhered a tag of identical proportions to rear to finish. When I got home I decided to turn it into a bookmark so I added the ribbon and used my black stazon ink and my Upsy Daisy stamp to finish it off with my own touch. Fabulous technique I love getting inky fingers! Aristocats & Cards 18.04.2011 035
Aristocats & Cards 18.04.2011 037
We also made this card. I took it home to finish as I had to leave class early to take darling daughter who is 10yrs old to a photo shot with the local paper as she is singing the Australian national anthem on ANZAC day (25thApril) on her own to an approximate audience of 10,000. I was supposed to use a strip of green cardstock with trees and cut out some of the foliage part and stick over the top but I grabbed out my markers and just coloured them in instead and used the scrap of green to make another card, as you will see in my last card.
Aristocats & Cards 18.04.2011 038
Then we made this girly style card it's a design & quick and easy to make using this very cute Kaszazz paper. I ordered a sheet I think it was $1.65 so I will be able to make heaps of cards out of just one sheet of paper.

TIP: adhere everything to your square panel first then attach it to your card, as it’s easier to centre and align straight!
Aristocats & Cards 18.04.2011 044
After class I had a strip of stamped trees on green cardstock leftover so I made this when I got home and was all inspired. The button is made from coconut shell and the paper on this card is Kaisercraft. I added some dimensional magic to add some detail to finish.Aristocats & Cards 18.04.2011 041
