The bib center, bow and book pages will be the color of the large piece with just a few holes in it. I didn't want you to have to piece all those tiny pieces(look around the eye lashes). So you have a black piece with a few openings in it, which is where the bib, book and bow show through.

Heart Shaped Box..new MTC version of file
This layout is for a 12x24v mat. To cut on 12x12 mat, cut first page. THen move second page onto mat(set x to -12).
I had to go into mtc and make a bit trace of the image to get the sides to show up. I have no idea why mtc can't read a standard svg file that scal has no problem with! This is the second time this has happened. Maybe an mtc guru can tell me!

Card Making...With a Little Help from my Cricut
I am involved with a charity in Jacksonville which has monthly meetings where the community is invited to help us make cards which are packaged in boxes of six and distributed to the case workers at various community centers. THe cards can be use to comfort and console the clients or jot a quick note to an associate. Last Tuesday we had helpers of all ages(from 5-60) and made 88 cards in 1 1/2 hours. Of course, we had precut and prepackaged everything for easy assembly. I will try to get a photo of all the cards from the event hostess. The high heel shoe shown on the previous post was one of the most popular to make. We also had one that had a strawberry which they got to embellish with crystals , and use a stamp to add a message that they really liked too. IF ANYONE HAS A STASH OF CARDS MADE UP AND NO USE FOR THEM, WE"D LOVE TO HAVE THEM! email me at dhoffman@spacey.net.
Most of the cutting was done on the Cricut, using Sure Cuts A Lot.
These are some of the cards I am making for next month.
Since I am cutting out more than one card, these are set up to cut 7 cards(with 8 of some things, just in case one rips when cutting or gets lost...you know how that is!).

Enjoy!
Here are some other cards in the making.
The basket came from Ducky Designs.

You can use any stamp you have to add your own message.
I named the file six but it makes seven, eight of some things. IT depends on what would fit on a single 12x12 piece of card stock. It takes 3 cuts on the Cricut, with 3 different card stocks.Page 1, first cut, is the solid rectangle shown above. Two sided gives you more options. To get to the second and third pages of cuts, increment the x coordinate by -12(so -12 for second page(the stars and circles), -24 for third page which was solid brown in my photo) A 4th cardstock is used to get the background of the card, I used my paper trimmer to cut 3.75 x 5.0 rectangles from cardstock. It was easier and more efficient use of my card stock doing that part by hand. These card fronts are sized to fit on 5.5x4.25 cards made by cutting an 8.5 x 11 piece of cardstock in half.
This one is similar but has hearts and a heart border.
I embossed hearts on the top rectangle, just to add some texture.
Using double sided paper, means you can get many different looking cards from the same cuts. Just intermix the different sides of the coordinating card stock. This came from a Martha Stewart pack for baby boys which I got for 40% off clearance price once. I knew I would use it some day! It sure cuts nicely on the Cricut!

Party Hat Box
To fold the hat into a cone with a hexagon bottom
Look for "points" on the bottom. Fold on a line from the point to the center of the top. There are some dashed score lines but they are hard to see.You will have 6 equal triangular sides. Fold tab under on last edge, and glue to make the hat.
I made the pom pom out of tissue paper. Just fold paper into quarters, cut circle, and fringe. Glue two pieces together.

Make a Fan!

At 2:45 a user asked for a fan pattern. I found one at
http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/fan.htm.
The requestor tried to convert it but it had some broken lines. I fixed it for her in inkscape(You just have to extend the lines and union the pieces together) I created this pattern, cut it, took a picture of it, and uploaded it to my blog all in less than 10 minutes. That is why I love Sure Cuts a Lot! It would have taken less time ,if my search for some two sided paper I just knew I had somewhere had been quicker!
Download the file:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1tdxvbnx4wg
These could be put together with a ribbon or cord, but I used a metal paper fastener. If you used plan paper, you could stamp it, to make a fun project for kids.
The card stock I used was two sided, but maybe not stiff enough to make a working fan. These would be fine for decorations or party favors for a wedding shower or something.
You could have fun make "lacey" blades that you glue onto a solid piece of card stock. That would result in a stronger fan and allow you to have lots of fun with your cricut.
Enjoy!

Circus Files

I spent a few hours making some Circus Files in response to a user's request. I zipped them and put them in a file to share: There are more files than shown. Some include the tent and ferris wheel, carousel horses, a border of animals. If you are scrapping a Circus trip, you will want these FREE files. You will need to open the files in inkscape to color separate or move just the one you want to cut to a separate file.
The circus logo and elephant shown are ready to cut.

Snowdrops...Lovely White Flowers...free svg

Someone was looking for a snowdrop flower. I found a drawing online and converted it. Now I've only seen photos of this flower, but this looks close! I welded as many pieces together as I could, to make it easy to piece. I figure I might as well post the file on my blog, in case others would like it.

Fun With A Font: Winter Page Titles

I belong to a font group and received the kr snowflake 2 font and thought it was cute. I decided to make these titles.
Here is the file:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wj0zzjzu4zn
You will have to look for the font or email me. You don't have to have the font to make these titles, just if you wanted to make OTHER titles. I did have to move the snowflakes closer to the letters and weld them on, because I didn't want to glue them on separately.
Enjoy!
