Christmas House Basket or Light

I saw houses similar to these on a post on kreations_by_kim blog. She said she made hers using the Handyman cartridge. Please check out Kim's blog because i love the extra details on the one she decorated.

Since Kim's example came from a cartridge, she didn't have an svg file to share. I didn't have the Handyman Cartridge so with her permission, I decided to make an svg file that would be similar, so we could all make one if we wanted to.

These can be use to store something like candies, toiletries, even socks you might give as a gift. In addition, the square battery operated candle from Dollar Tree fit in the basket perfectly too. You could just remove the handle if you are using the basket as a centerpiece instead.

I was able to import the file into make the cut, but it DOES NOT LOOK the same as it did in SCAL...I'm sorry it doesn't look like you will be able to cut it in make the cut. I don't use make the cut, but do have a copy. I didn't realize it didn't work as well as scal at reading the svg files that come out of inkscape.

Here is a new card I made last week that I thought I'd share with you. It is a paper piecing. It isn't as hard as it looks to make, as you get an outline to glue everything onto. My card has a few fuzzies on the books, because I was in a hotel room and only had one piece of black paper left, and it didn't cut all the way, and I had no way to cut another! Yours will be much better!

There are 3 pages....on a 12x24 mat. SO move it over if you only have a 12x12 mat. You will see your image is very wide when you import it.
You can use x at the top of the position window to move it over. Like -12 will move it 12 inches over. -24 24 inches over.

The pieces have been grouped so they can be ungrouped and moved around in scal 2. It may mess up the file if you import into scal 1. If you have scal 1 and the file doens't look like this layout above. open the file in inkscape, select all, ungroup. Save file and try  it again.

Table Centerpiece Lights

This one was cut in silver.

As I was looking at my butterfly light, I realized it was just a triangle, and I should be albe to make one in Scal. Using another scene I had of a wedding couple that I'd been working on for my son's wedding, I cut that, put a piece of velum behind it. Then I cut a piece the same height, and folded it in half, then glued it onto the velum backed cutout. I used some flickering battery powered candle lights from dollar tree to light it up.
Viola...instant decorations! You could make these for any party, putting any silhouette type pictures in the "frame". Many of my silhouettes in the fonts would work great.

This one was made about 5.5 inches high. It lets the

light go higher making it look less like a forest fire is about to consume them! lol

It also lets you cut a light out of a single piece of 12x12 paper.

I'll give you my file, but you will see you can just make your own with any framed silhouette type images.

I doubt anyone will need this exact light! The butterfly image from the previous post works nice and you can "color" it in on the velum.

Another idea would be to make the "tissue box" and cut out one side for a velum insert.

Gardenia

An online friend was looking for a gardenia to cut on her cricut. It was hard to find an image that showed a whole flower. I came up with this one and converted it. You cut a solid green background, glue on the white flower background, then over lay the black details.

Valentine's Conversation Heart...Make Your Own for a Page or Card

First I used inkscape 47 to make these hearts. When I imported them into scal 2.0 the text was "messed up". I redid them in inkscape 46 and it works fine. I "grouped" each item, so you can ungroup it in scal 2.0 and move things around or delete them, without using inkscape. You could make your own messages in scal 2, but I couldn't figure out how to make my arial narrow font into a stencil font in scal 2.0 like I can in inkscape. Maybe you could just use a stencil font like stencilia instead of Arial narrow.

This file just has one heart and one background in it, then all the text messages, so you can make one or more at once.
