I made this card for the color combo challenge at SCS this week. Red, yellow and blue. I had so much fun doing the resist technique, I had to try it some more.

Butterfly garden

I tried my hand at another telescoping card. I made a veritable stamped garden for my butterfly to visit. I used several Mark's Finest Papers sets. I used: Just Dandy, Poppies poppies poppies, Greet the day with Gerber, Butterflies and wisteria, Black Eyed Susans for Encouragement. I love the photo of this little brown and orange butterfly that I took on Sunday. It was the inspiration for the butterfly on this card.

Mark’s Finest Papers

There are just some sets that become favorites the minute you see them. This black eyed susan set is one of those sets. You can see from my examples how awesome it is. I know you are going to want this set too.

This last card combined the flowers from other "FAVORITE" sets. I made it for a co-worker's wedding card. I used these other Mark's Finest Papers sets: Just Dandy, Poppies, poppies, poppies, and my favorite butterfly from Daffodil and Anise. For this card. I used burnt glue for the centers of the poppies and I added glitter and ground up styrofoam for the dandylions, and the black eyed susans have several layers. The petals are cut out everyother one and curled. I placed piece of craft foam between the layers to add to the dimension.

Sympathy butterfly

This is the card that I made for the sketch challenge. It has the sketch, but the flowers to the left might take away from the sketch somewhat. I debated about adding them, but I ended up putting them because I like these daisies. I needed to make a sympathy for a coworker whose mother in law died yesterday. I used 3 Mark's Finest Papers sets. The butterfly is from Just Dandy set. The daisies are from Greet the Day with Gerber, and the sentiment is from A Walk in the Woods.

This photo shows a close up of the butterfly and it shows the dimension of the butterfly.

Here is a really close up view of the butterfly.

Weeds or Master Designed Flowers?

STAMPIN' SISTERS IN CHRIST CHALLENGE DESIGN TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT.

I am so excited to be joining the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Design Team. Sixteen months ago, I was blessed by finding this group of Christian sisters, who love creating cards like I do, but who also use their love of creating as a way to share Christ with the world around them. I have been blessed by the scriptures that they share, as well as inspired by their beautiful creations.

This week's scripture is:

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:7

The challenge is to make a card with a stamped flower. When my daughter saw my card, she said WEED not FLOWER. That was the inspiration of a story that I want to share with my card as well.

The King's Birthday.
There once was a king who had magnificent gardens. Everyone who knew him knew about his passion for flowers. Every year on the king's birthday, his subjects would bring him flowers as their gifts to him. The king looked out at the line of his subjects. They were bringing roses, tulips, lilies, daffodils, and zinnias just to name a few. What caught the king's attention was a small boy near the end of the line. The people around him were laughing and jeering at the flowers he had brought. "WEEDS" said one, "The king will not be pleased." said another. A tear rolled down the small boy's face. The king rose from his throne and approached the boy. After the crowd's teasing, the boy was ashamed and hid his flowers behind his back. The king bent down and asked the boy "What kind of flowers did you bring? What did you think was a gift for your king?" The small boy slowly brought the flowers forward. In his small hands were dandelions. "These are God's favorite flowers" he said to the king. "God plants them everywhere. If I go into the meadows or if I go into the hills, these little yellow flowers are there. My friends and I pick bouquets of them for our moms." The king smiled. The boy continued..."Did you know that you can eat the leaves too? Wasn't that neat that God did that? I don't think you could eat the leaves of the flowers everyone else is bringing." And almost as an afterthought he added "The most fun thing about these flowers is when they turn to puff balls. You close your eyes, make a wish and blow." The small boy handed the dandelion to the king and a hush came over the crowd. They watched as the king closed his eyes and blew on the dandelion. Hundreds of small seeds blew into the air and floated away on the breeze. The king hugged the child and thanked him for his gift.

The flowers on my card are from a set that will be released this week by Mark's Finest Papers. It is called "JUST DANDY" Make sure you check out the blog hop that starts on Tuesday. I love this set. I can see using it to make masculine as well as feminine cards.

Birthday Dandelions

When people list of their favorite flowers, dandelions don't usually make the list. I however love them. The bright yellow when they first bloom, to me looks so pretty dotting the nice green lawns. (Just don't tell my husband that!) And who can resist blowing the seeds into the air and watching them be airborn. There is something magical about watching the seeds disperse. I know it makes more dandelions for my husband to have to kill, but I love blowing on them and making a wish. (Really don't tell my husband that!!!) My sons have a leader in their scout troop who is an expert on wild foods. He has given seminars all over the world. I love it when he shares about food you can find in the wild. When he was the science teacher at the high school, he had a plot of land that he grew dandelions on. In the spring he would have the students pick the dandelions and he would prepare food with the dandelions. He also would have a contest to see which child could bring in the tallest dandelion. My daughter found one when she was in her class that had a stem of 20 inches. What I like most about dandelions is seeing the intricacies of God's engineering. Imagine creating a flower that when the wind blows, plants itself. Amazing!!!
This birthday card uses stamps from a set that will be released next week from Mark's Finest Papers. It is called JUST DANDY. I stamped the dandelion and added "Fluff" I took two styrofoam balls and rubbed them together. The broken pieces of styrofoam and glitter combined made the perfect fluff for my card.
